FFA Mission Statement
FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education.
FFA is a National Organization for youth. It was originally formed in 1928 for rural farm boys. It got its name, FFA, as the acronym of Future Farmers of America. In 1969 women were allowed to join which totally changed the face of the organization. Then in 1988, Future Farmers of America was changed to The National FFA Organization, in order to drop the stigmatism that it was just for farm kids. FFA helps develop leadership skills of our youth through contests, leadership camps, and individual agricultural projects called SAE (Supervised Agricultural Experience) projects. Each Agriculture student is required to have an SAE project ranging from mowing lawns, science experiments, working in the agriculture industry, or owning their own project. All Agricultural Class members are strongly encouraged to join FFA at Lone Tree High School.
