Library

The Lone Tree Library is both a K-12 school media center and the local public library. Opened in August of 2002 as a part of the school's new addition, our library provides Lone Tree students, staff and the community a variety of services. We have a wide range of materials including books, periodicals, CDs, audio books, DVD's and videos; its collection currently holds over 27,000 volumes. Our library is completely automated and houses 10 PC computers for school and public use with access to the internet on a T3 line.

The library is open for school use during the hours of 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. The library is open to the public from 3:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. It is also open on the 1st Saturday of the month 8:30AM-10:30AM. Hours change over winter break and summer.

Lower Elementary Students enjoy story time during their Library period with Mrs. Callan. In reading class these students are learning about Tall Tales. To enrich their studies on this genre Mrs. Callan is reading aloud a "tall tale" story about Pecos Bill.

Library 2In addition to hearing stories read aloud, lower elementary students learn library skills during each class period. These second grade students have been given the assignment to find a book in the Everybody section of the Library that has a call number on the back.

As part of our early integration of technology the lower elementary is learning how to manipulate the online library catalog system.
